Cabbage Tree Island Public School was established in 1893 as a school for Aborigines. During the past 108 years the school has educated four generations of the close knit community. The school covers all key learning areas as other regular schools, but has emphasis on Aboriginal perspectives. Traditional dance and Bundjalung language is taught at the school. Computer education is another major emphasis at the school, with a well-resourced laboratory.
